Bridge the gaps in Outlook
October 19, 2007 Posted by Tara in : New Products, Reviews , add a commentTimebridge has released a web-based, public scheduling manager into beta that may cut down on the amount of “back and forth” it takes to schedule a meeting through Outlook. If you have ever scheduled a meeting through Outlook, you know that it may take several emails and cancellations to get a time that works for all attending parties. With Timbridge, you are allowed to pick up to 5 possible meeting times that attendees can pick from. And you’re not restricted to Outlook, as Timebridge also interfaces with Google calendars. (more…)

June 21, 2007 Posted by Tara in : Tips , add a commentI was sitting at my desk yesterday, typing away, when I heard a shriek from the cube next to me. My co-worker had been experiencing a problems with her computer all morning long; it was performing much slower than normal. She said she had thought about backing up her hard drive and then BAM! Her computer crashed and everything was lost. She said it was the closest she had come to crying at work, EVER, and I understand where she is coming from. Many of the resources that I use to do my job on a daily basis are on my hard drive. Templates, reports, important contact information (this is why I am a strong supporter of web-basted contact managers). (more…)

Why Pandora.com Sucks
June 8, 2007 Posted by Tara in : Reviews , 3 commentsFor those of you who don’t know about Pandora, I am about to tell you what it is, and why it sucks. Pandora.com is a free internet radio service created by the Music Genome Project. The supposed draw of the service is that it customizes the music on a station that you create by choosing artists, songs and albums that you like. For example, if you enter Depeche Mode as an artist you like, Pandora will funnel songs and artists that are similar to Depeche Mode and their songs through the station. This sounds amazing, right? Well it’s not for several reasons:

May 31, 2007 Posted by Tara in : New Products, Reviews , 7 commentsOnce in a while, a device comes along that is so amazing, I would feel criminally negligent not to write about it. The Kensington Quickseek FM Transmitter for your iPod is one such device.Â

Solar Charge That iPod!
May 22, 2007 Posted by Tara in : Reviews , 2 commentsI don’t even know why I own an iPod. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but its spends way too much time in the bottom of my bag dead, lifeless, uncharged. I can only plug it in to the computer where all of my iTunes are stored; pluging it in to an alternate computer will erase all of my data. I need another option: enter the MySoldius universal solar charger.
Microsoft Windows Automatic Updates Broke My Computer
May 16, 2007 Posted by Tara in : Microsoft, Tips , 4 commentsWindows Automatic Updates broke my computer.
Well, not really. What it did do was cause my machine to hang and prompt a system error that garbled all of the text on my screen. I called my friendly tech support team and they came to the rescue, but I decided to delve a bit deeper into the problem to see what others people’s experiences were.
It turns out that 5 other people at my company had that exact problem, and that was just at my company alone. Think of all of the hundreds of thousands of users out there having the exact same problem. If you are like me, when the Microsoft pop-up prompts me to “run automatic updates,” I just comply, fearing that if I don’t my computer will be vulnerable to all of the nastiness that can affect one’s machine.
