With Father’s Day rapidly approaching, I decided to to put together a mini gift guide for those of us who want to show our appreciation for dad without breaking the bank. Each one of these gifts is under $60 and is user friendly, as we know sometimes parents just don’t understand. The first gift is one I know for sure my own dad would like:

fishfinder.jpg1. The Humminbird SmartCast RF30 Wireless Remote Fish Finder

Retails for $59.99, designed as a wrist mount, this little gadget has a 75-foot remote operating range and 100-foot depth capability. It has a 1.25-inch high-visibility display with 48 x 32 pixels of resolution. It is obviously waterproof and has one touch menu navigation for ease of use.

bbqthermometer.jpg 2. The Oregon Scientific Wireless BBQ Thermometer (oh yeah!)

This pup retails for $39.95. It has a 100 foot transmission range and a detachable belt clip so that dad can be away from the BBQ drinking a beer while the meat is cooking and still know whats going on. The device has audio alert options and a temperature range of 0 to 392 degrees Fahrenheit, not to mention a low battery indicator to avoid embarrassing meat charring.

brightfeet_slippers.jpg 3. Brightfeet Lighted Slippers

Retailing for $39.95, these slippers are weight sensored so that they can tell when you are in them. This will activate the LED light and illuminate up to 20 in front of your dad, so he won’t trip in the night and break his brittle bones.

signal_locator.jpg 4. Mobile Edge WiFi Signal Locator

This little guy retails for $24.95 and is about the size of a key. In fact, it attaches to your key chain and finds 802.11B and G Networks in seconds. LED lights measure signal strength. For the wardriving dad.

5. Radica’s Brain Games

Retails for $19.95 and features 5 different brain games: Sequence, Flash Card, Thinkfast, Word Hunt & Recall. Based on research by Gary Small. This is great for keeping the mind youthful and limber and has been used in studies at UCLA. Make sure Dad’s brain is agile when you have to visit him at the home.
