Solar Charge That iPod! May 22, 2007

I don’t even know why I own an iPod. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but its spends way too much time in the bottom of my bag dead, lifeless, uncharged. I can only plug it in to the computer where all of my iTunes are stored; pluging it in to an alternate computer will erase all of my data. I need another option: enter the MySoldius universal solar charger.

This is an ultra light (115 grams) solar panel charger that will charge your iPod of any variety (I have a Mini) or cell phone. It is compatible with the following phones Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Siemens, Motorola and Blackberry. It is so compact that it will fit just about anywhere, it folds in half making it easy to store.

The charger also comes with a variety of setup tips that link the carger to any of your devices. Another great part about this device, it is environmentally friendly of course! The drawbacks: it does take 2-3 hours to charge your device and when MySoldius says direct sunlight, they mean it. I live in Seattle, so the direct sunlight days are very limited. The device won’t work under an overcast sky. It is not like a solar calculator, your desk lamp will not do the trick. You must have it directly in the path of the sun’s glorious rays. Two thumbs up from me though, great idea, and great design.

Update 6/5/07:  We liked the MySoldius iPod charger so much that we added it to the new Texxors.com store.  Get yours for a great price and in your favorite color by clicking here.
