I hate Windows Vista. Hate it with all my heart. But, we have to live with it, so I have to fix it. We've run into the problem below frequently, and here's how to beat it.
When trying to create recovery disks, you can end up with a lot of drink coasters if you don't disable the autoplay feature when trying to change out disks. If you've done this wrong too many times, the computer will not let you make recovery disks and you will have to trick it by restoring it using the recovery partition, or at the very least start over.
To turn off autoplay, click Start > Control Panel > Autoplay
From there, scroll down to the settings for a blank DVD, CD or whatever it is you're using to create the disks with, and change it to "do nothing" from the dropdown menu. Problem solved.
